What Is Membership at Breakaway?

Membership at Breakaway is a step of commitment—choosing to belong to a local church family and live out our shared mission:

Love God. Love People. Make Disciples.

It’s not about status. It’s about ownership—saying, “This is my church family, and I’m in.”

Count Me In

The first step toward membership is Count Me In, a relaxed gathering where we share a meal with our elders, pastors, and deacons and talk about what it means to be part of Breakaway.

After the luncheon, those who want to continue can take our online membership class.

Count Me In is for you if you are:

  • Exploring Breakaway and want to understand our story, vision, and values
  • Curious about membership and what it involves
  • Looking to get more connected through groups, serving, or leadership
  • Ready to take the next step toward becoming a member

We host Count Me In gatherings a few times a year—keep an eye on our Events page for the next one.

What Does Membership Mean?

A Breakaway member is someone who:

  • Has trusted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Has been baptized as a follower of Jesus
  • Has completed the Count Me In process and membership class
  • Affirms Breakaway’s beliefs and mission
  • Has been publicly received into membership by the church

Membership is also a commitment to actively participate in the life of the church—worship, community, serving, generosity, spiritual growth, and sharing Jesus with others.

What You Can Expect as a Member

When you become a member, you’re not just committing to the church—you’re also being cared for by it.

Our elders and leaders commit to:

  • Shepherding and caring for your spiritual growth
  • Teaching and counseling from God’s Word
  • Providing accountability and prayer
  • Walking with you through life’s seasons
As a member, you’ll also have opportunities to:

  • Serve and lead within the church
  • Be part of key church decisions (including leadership and major direction)
  • Use church facilities in appropriate ways as part of church life
