Our mission in Children's Ministry is to partner with parents as they lead their children to experience the joy of glorifying God with their lives.

<b>Infants - 3rd Grade</b>

Infants - 3rd Grade

Every Sunday, we engage your children through worship, Bible teaching, and play. God delights in your children, and in our ministry we want them to experience the joy of following Jesus. The life-changing message of Jesus' sacrifice is a consistent focus of our weekly teaching. Even in the nursery, we believe God has created children with the ability to know Him and glorify Him.

In BKiDS, we have structured our teaching with the goal of providing children ages 2 through 3rd grade with a solid foundation in both Old and New Testament stories, all viewed through the lens of the gospel message.

Our playground encourages connection and collaborative play. Part of a life that glorifies God is enjoying His people, and when you're a kid, enjoying people often involves a good game of chase!

In the classroom, we engage your children through discussion, activities, and practical application of God's Word.

<b>4th &amp; 5th Graders</b>

4th & 5th Graders

When your child enters 4th grade, they become a Crew Kid! In CREW45, our teaching dives into deeper theological concepts as we seek to captivate the active and curious minds of our older elementary students. Our goal is to provide them with a strong biblical foundation and help them take ownership of their personal relationship with Jesus before entering their teen years.

This class experience shifts from playful to more intentional and studious, and we consistently find that our students appreciate this change of pace as they grow in maturity.

Part of partnering with our Crew45 parents is helping facilitate the transition from children's worship to corporate worship. These students worship with their parents at the beginning of service and return to the Auditorium after the message, just before communion is served.

Q & A

When you arrive, our team will help you check in your children, show you to their classrooms, and answer any questions you may have. You'll receive a pick-up tag during check-in that you'll use to pick up your children after the service. We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early on your first visit so we can register your family and help everyone get settled in.

To provide the best experience for every child, we place children in classrooms based on their age and grade level. However, we understand that unique situations arise. If there is an extenuating circumstance, you may request a classroom exception from our Children's Ministry Director.

For snack time, all children are offered Rice Chex. If your child has a food allergy or dietary restrictions, you are welcome to send a labeled snack with them. When you check in for the first time, any food allergies you indicate will be printed on your child's name tag so our volunteers can easily identify and accommodate their needs. We want every child to feel safe, welcomed, and cared for while they're with us.

We understand that visiting a new church can feel overwhelming for some children. Our team will work with you to help your child feel comfortable and if we need to contact you during service for any reason, we will use the phone number on your child's name tag. If your child has special needs or unique circumstances, we'd love to connect with you before your visit so we can best serve your family.

We'd love to help! If you have any questions about Children's Ministry or your child's specific needs, feel free to reach out to our Children's Ministry Director at adrienne@breakaway.church

Meet the Team!

Meet <b>Adrienne</b>

Meet Adrienne

Adrienne Plekenpol serves as the Children's Ministry Director at Breakaway Church, where she has had the joy of leading and investing in kids and families for the past five years. She is passionate about helping children build a strong foundation of faith by teaching God's Word in ways that are engaging, gospel-centered and....fun.
Adrienne's own faith journey began at Hill Country Bible Church, where faithful leaders challenged her as a teenager to make her faith her own and live on mission for Christ. After graduating from Abilene Christian University, she taught high school Spanish in the Dallas area, where she met her husband, Chris. Today, Chris serves as the Lead Pastor of Breakaway Church where he's been pastoring over 15 years. They are grateful to serve the church alongside one another.
Adrienne and Chris are the proud parents of four energetic boys who keep life adventurous and full of laughter. As both a ministry leader and a mom, Adrienne understands the importance of partnering with parents to help children know, love, and follow Jesus.
When she's not at church, you'll likely find Adrienne outside with her boys, squeezing in a work out or walk with Chris and maybe even caring for a litter of puppies. She considers it a tremendous privilege to walk alongside children and lead them in discovery of the Joy of Jesus.
Meet <b>Nicole</b>

Meet Nicole

Nicole Troup serves as the Children's Ministry Coordinator. Nicole helps support the day-to-day operations of BKiDS & CREW45, including volunteer onboarding, scheduling, curriculum, logistics, and creating an excellent experience for every child and family who walks through our doors.
Nicole came to faith in high school and was baptized at 17. Not long after, she began serving in children's ministry and quickly discovered a passion for helping kids know and love Jesus. Since then, she has found great joy in teaching children about God and the Gospel in ways that are engaging, understandable, and rooted in God's truth. She considers it a privilege to partner with families as they disciple the next generation and loves creating a fun, safe environment where kids can grow in their faith and build a lasting relationship with Jesus.
Outside of church, Nicole enjoys spending time with her fiancé, reading, and finding a great cup of coffee. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve the families of Breakaway and loves watching God work in the lives of children each week.
